I have been teaching for Waterlife for over 10 years and I can honestly say, “I love my job”.  Watching a child learn and master new skills in the water, gaining increased confidence as they progress over the weeks/months is the best aspect of teaching swimming, something that one day may save their own life.

My own background in the swimming world began as a child myself competing at national level, and something that has stayed with me.  When I had my first child Hannah (now 15yrs old), I started taking her swimming, the nearest baby swimming class was about 10 miles away but I thought it was worth it, from watching her enjoy and learn new skills in the water I then enquired about becoming a qualified swimming teacher myself. Roll on the years, I now have 3 children, all of whom swim. I teach on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays for Waterlife Swim School.

I’m 23 years’ old & I am a qualified STA Baby and Pre-school teacher.

After leaving school I worked for 2 and half years in a nursery and qualified with a NVQ diploma, “Children & Young People’s Workforce” including first aid. I then went on to nanny for a year which I really enjoyed.

After falling pregnant and consequently taking my son to swimming lessons with Waterlife it was suggested that I look to train as an instructor myself. This way I still get to be around my son but also see how other babies and young children develop and learn first-hand. I can’t thank Waterlife Swim School enough for this amazing opportunity.
