Immunisations

We are happy to accept babies into classes before they are immunised, but we insist that this is your decision. Any concerns should be discussed with your GP or health visitor or visit the NHS website.

Illness

If your baby is unwell or has an ear infection or cold then please do not bring them swimming.

If your baby has had a stomach bug you should wait 2 days after the first solid movement before going swimming.

Showering

Please ensure that both parent/ carer and baby shower thoroughly prior to swimming.

The cleaner our pools remain the less chemicals are required.

You may wish to consider the ABC Arbonne Baby Care range via lizzieemler.arbonne.com  which uses botanically based, sustainable ingredients, recyclable packaging and vegetable inks.

Photographs

We understand that parents like a memento of their little one’s first swimming experience.

Waterlife instructors will endeavour to take 4 underwater shots of each Level 1 swimmer on the 10th week of term in your scheduled class.

We charge just £15 for our happy snappy shots and will send them via www.wetransfer.com. Payment should be made directly to the instructor who took the photos.

Depending on class size and available time we may add some surface shots to your collection.

Upper levels may request that photos are taken in their class too. Please speak directly to your instructor on the day.

Class Details

Lessons start promptly so please insure you arrive at the pool 15 minutes prior to your lesson start time. This will ensure you have enough time to get both you and your baby changed and on poolside for a hassle free start.
Classes are tailored to the size of the pool. The maximum number of babies in each class is 8 in our Balham pool and 9 in our Morden pool.  Due to the small size of the pools we only allow one adult in the water per child.

As our pools are warm you are not required to wear wet suits or snugs. Some parents however choose to put their babies in these during the winter terms. You can buy these at www.splashabout.com

Nappy Policy

At Waterlife Swim School we insist that each swimmer who is not ‘toilet trained’ doubles up with a neoprene nappy and a under layer for hygiene.

The passing of solids (or semi-solids) into the water can create a serious risk of an infection called Cryptosporidium being passed into the water. Should a movement occur and leaks into the swimming pool, we must cancel classes, and drain, clean, re-fill and re-heat the water, usually a 24 hourNappy1 turn around.

If you arrive at your class without a neoprene nappy you may not be able to swim.

The neoprene nappy comes in a variety of colours and sizes. They start from:

X small – birth to 2 months (3-4kg) onwards

Prices start from around £9.99 from www.splashabout.com

Nappy2
Although disposable nappies are available from chemists and supermarkets we are conscious of the environmental impact that our nappy mountains create having been used only once.
We therefore encourage the use of an under wrap and biodegradable liner such as the splashabout wrap and liner system.

Catch Up Policy

At Waterlife we understand that life can be unpredictable. As per our terms & conditions, we therefore offer 3 catch-up classes per term so that you don’t miss your lessons.

Please inform the office by email to info@waterlifeswimschool.com of any absence, preferably in advance where possible, and we will look to accommodate you in an alternative session.

Please note although we try to be flexible catch ups are not re-scheduled without 24 hours notice and are then again subject to availability. We do not roll over catch ups to the following term.

We do our best to arrange catch ups at your regular venue on an alternative day or the nearest available venue, within the current term.

We appreciate your understanding.
